HANA Studio and SAP UI5

If you are starting from a new machine and/or have never developed on eclipse you may run into a problem using SAP UI5 library.  To fix the issue, you don’t need native eclipse to use SAP UI5.  You merely have to add to links to install new program in native HANA Studio.

  1. From HANA Studio Help menu, select "Install New Program"
  2. Add download site for eclipse  http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno
  3. Add download site for SAP UI5  https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/#sapui5
  4. Select to expand: UI Development Toolkit for HTML 5
  5. Select checkbox: UI development toolkit for HTML 5 (developer edition)
  6. Select Next and Finish.  You will be prompted for a warning to install unsigned files, select Ok.  After the install you can use the SAP UI 5 library in the hello world exercise. 

You should be ready for the "Hello World" html exercise now.

Best way to Migrate from MSSQL to HANA

HI,

 

We are presently using MSSQL Server 2008.

 

We would like to migrate to HANA now. We have around 40 tables and huge data in SQL Server.

 

What is the best way(other than BODS) to move our sql schema with all data to HANA?

Hi,

 

I've read some posts that there is a tool which will generate HANA DDL sql script from MS Sql Server table structures.

 

Can anyone tell me the name of this tool? And where can I download it from?

Hello,

 

I want to install the HANA system into a local server located in my university. I don't want to use The Amazon Web Services(AWS). I have already installed the SAP HANA Client and Studio into my desktop. All I need is to install the HANA system into the server and connect my desktop to it.

OData for Calc. view - Parameter problems

Hi,

 

i need some help with the input parameters of an OData service. I'm trying to consume a calculation view via a OData service which has three parameters.

- P_DATEFROM (Date)

- P_DATETO   (Date)

- P_REGION (String)

 

I used a similiar definition like here: http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/hana/blog/2013/01/22/rest-your-models-on-sap-hana-xs

The definition of the service works fine, but if i try to open it with some parameters i receive an error:

 

http://server:port/path/service.xsodata/InputParams(P_DATEFROM='2012-01-11',P_DATETO='2012-01-15',P_REGION='BIN')/Results?$select=NAME,REGION

=> Illegal query syntax.

 

I'm not sure what is wrong, but i think the date format is not 100% right and i can't figure out what.

How to call a SAP HANA procedure from c#

Hello,

 

I have created a procedure and its appearing in _SYS_BIC as expected. But I am unable to call it from my c# code. Getting various errors like Invalid command state etc. I referred the guide at https://help.sap.com/hana/hana_dev_sqlscript_en.pdf (page 56) but still couldn't get it working.

 

I am able to execute a SQL statement directly from my c# code to access SYSTEM tables. Not sure whats wrong.

 

Please help.

30 day cloudshare trial issues

To whom it may concern,

       I am trying to get my developer up and running on the cloudshare but I’m having issues.  Once I login and accept the terms, it takes me to a page which says: “Thank you for your interest in the HANA on CloudShare Trial trial!”.  The only option it leaves is to go to the home page which I do.   Then, it starts all over by asking me the solution I’m interested in and then the provider.  I put in HANA and Cloudshare Trial, respectively.   At this point,  it takes me back to the personal data page..where I begin the process all over again.  I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.  Does anyone out there have any advice?

Revision 49 for HDB on trial system

Hi,

I was trying to create a parent-child hierarchy in the HANA trial system which did not work and I hit upon the note '1811145'.

It is mentioned in the note that we need revision 49(SP5) in order to be able to create a parent child hierarchy.

Will the revision be done?

 

BTW: The manual option given in the note does not seem to work. I get an error("select parent attribute for hierarchy") while activating after importing.

HANA UOM conversion functionality

Is anyone doing UOM conversions at the moment in HANA and if so how ?

 

There is the modeller way thru measure type ( Quatity with unit of measure ) or the SQLSCRIPT use of CE_CONVERSION operation.

Any other ways known ?

 

I cannot seem to find any real documentation stating the UOM conversions are officially released and available but I have done some POCs using the above options.

 

The latest hana developers guide http://help.sap.com/hana/hana_dev_en.pdf  mentions UoM conversions on P142.

However it only lists tables T006 & T006A as required but I found that additionally tables T006D was necessary. So the lack of real details in the doco makes me wonder if this functionality is actually released and being used in the wild.

 

Curious to hear about anyone else's Unit of Measures conversion experiences (problems, tips, solutions ) with HANA.

Hana instance creation on AWS always fails

Hello,

 

i tried for several times to create a SAP HANA instance on AWS like it is explained in the openSAP course.It started to create, but then failed and rolled back without a detailed error message. I tried to create an instance in Ireland at first, then in the US (california). Always without success.

 

Does anybody have an idea what goes wrong here?

I tried to download Sap Hana developer edition Studio fom the SCN :

But received the following error:

HANA Dev - creating role error mismatched input '00' expecting RULE_ID

Hi,

 

I have currently enrolled for HAN Native Dev course, When I was following tutorial week 2 , unit 2

 

I tried to create Role

 

my syntax was

 

role workshop.sessiona.00.data::workshopUser {

 

          catalog schema "WORKSHOPA_00": SELECT;

          application privilege: workshop.sessiona.00::Basic;

 

 

}

 

I have this package hierarchy - workshop.sessiona.00.data

 

But I couldn't able to activate my .hdbrole file due to this error


mismatched input '00' expecting RULE_ID

Connect HANA Studio to aws Instance

Hi,

I set up an instance at aws but I am not able to connect to this instance via SAP HANA Studio. I read a lot of threads that dealt with this issue but I couldn't solve this problem. I executed the following steps:

 

1. Instance is up and running

2. I assigned the Elastic IP to this instance

3. In the security group I assigned the ICMP Port and TCP Port (22, 30015) for the inbound side and ALL Ports for the outgoing side

4. I can reach my machine via ping 54.229.33.249

5. I set in my windows file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts the parameters

54.229.33.249   imdbhdb

6. I can connect to my instance via aws connection

 

The first strange thing is that when I am connected there is no user hdbadm so that I can sapstop and sapstart the database.

 

Finally I try to connect via SAP HANA Studio as described in http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-28294

 

I attach the files how I tried to setup the connection in SAP HANA Studio.

 

Please help me to find a solution for this issue. I currently participating at the openSAP course Introduction to Software Development on SAP HANA and therefore I would like to have a system up and running.

System instance connection help needed

Dear Friends,

I am struggling to connect system instance to  server  on cloudshare from Yesterday. I was  able to connect the same couple of days back from local pc as well as VM for HANA studio. Now I am not able to connect from both machines. Mean while I also deleted old system instance  and tried add new system instance . I am always getting  The system can't be reachble and login data couldn't be considered. Are you sure you want add the system to workplace

Hi,

is anyone actually able to download the HANA Studio or Client today?

 

My browser is trying to connect to downloads.sdn.sap.com and then fails after several minutes with "Unfortunately there was a technical issue completing your download request. Please try again later."

Are you just getting hammered with download-requests due to open.sap.com or do you have technical difficulties?

Problem with CE_CONVERSION

Hello,

 

I'm having troubles with the column engine function CE_CONVERSION for currency conversion.

The conversion seems to ignore the factors (FFACT, TFACT) in the table TCURF, so that e.g. JPY to EUR is a factor of 100 to big.

 

T = CE_CONVERSION(:V, [

  family = 'currency',

                     method = 'ERP',

                     error_handling  = 'set to null',

                     client = '100',

                     conversion_type = 'M',

                     target_unit = 'EUR',

                     source_unit_column = "WAERS",

                     schema = "ABC",

                     reference_date_column = "DAT"]);

 

Is there a flag to tell the conversion to use the factors?

a system error during add system

Hello

 

  I am freshman on sap hana . Today when I want to add a system on hana studio. After I input the user name and password. It seems that the System was create successful. But Jump  a pop-up box . Said " An internal error occurred during: "Updating system 'GHD' ..." I really want to know what’s wrong with it .

SAP HANA Delivery Unit

Hi,

 

We are trying to commit the project but it is giving the error code 40101.

Also, we had found out that while creating the package we are unable to see the delivery unit in the dialog box.

So we were trying to create the delivery unit according to thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/2131056.

But after saving the delivery unit, it doesn't shows up int he dialog.

Please see below screenshot.

Question asked in the OpenSAP Assignment #1 is not answered in videos or on slides

Hi everyone,

I am not trying to cheat or anything, but I am currently doing the assignment of OpenSAP HANA Dev cours, week #1.

There is this one thing that I think isn't answered in the videos or on the slides. The same thing happend before with the smaller test as well, but you could do it again without losing credits so I didn't mind. Now I do.

 

The question are about runtime elements.

 

Question #1: What is a runtime object in SAP HANA?

Possible Answers #1

- An object generated when you save an object in the SAP HANA repository

- An object generated when you share an object in the SAP HANA repository

- An object generated when you commit an object in the SAP HANA repository

[X] An object generated when you activate an object in the SAP HANA repository

 

Question #2 Where does an SAP HANA application store runtime objects?

Possible Answers #2 (only 1 is right)

- The SAP HANA database

- The Eclipse project workspace

- The SAP HANA workspace

 

Anyone have an idea of what a runtime object is? I marked my choices with [X]
