HANA deployment scenario

Hi All,

We have been recommended the below HANA deployment scenario by our system integrator. Based on our study, this is not an optimal deployment scenario.

We would appreciate your/all inputs that we should raise with our system integrator.

Deployment Scenario is as below:

ECC --> BW(On Oracle) -->BPC --> HANA

ECC --.>HANA (via SLT)

As you see, data is moving via two routes finally into HANA. System integrator is suggesting HANA as source for all Analytics and Consolidation reporting.

We also understand the above scenario is neither Native HANA nor BW powered by HANA nor BPC powered by HANA. Can you please let us know what issues exist in this deployment scenario. Specifically, Our questions are :

In above scenario,

1.       1. How can we get BPC data into HANA? Would we need BODS for this?

2.       2. Is this feasible option from a deployment perspective (copying 100’s of tables into HANA) and

          not having BW content for reporting(since integrator is saying HANA should be used for all reporting)

3.       3.  Is SLT only for ECC data to HANA?

4.       4. If we use ONLY HANA for reporting, how can we accomplish time dependent hierarchy requirements

5.       5. In this scenario, what are the options to get Non-ECC/3rd party data into HANA

6.       6. Can we have Business Objects tools on top of BW/BPC?

          7. How difficult will it be to extract data into HANA and then build views to be able to report. We understand that BW has standard extractors that are complex and will not be available if we do not use BW for any reporting and wish to just replicate ECC data into HANA and create models that we can report off of.

      Any issues you can find with above deployment scenario, please let us know. Thanks for all inputs.
