Unable To Perform Recovery

Hi all,

We have launched a new HANA server, and would like to migrate data over there. We have successfully performed a data backup without a hitch, and transferred the data files (everything in "/usr/sap/HDB/HDB00/backup/data") to the same directory on the new server. However, back in the Client Studio, the "Recovery..." option is greyed out, so we are unable to perform recovery.

We tried to perform recovery by using SQL, but for this SQL statement:

RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL TIMESTAMP '2013-01-31 00:00:00'

This is the error we got:

* 7: feature not supported: Can't recover in online mode SQLSTATE: HY000

The HANA Admin Guide did say we need our database to be offline to perform recovery. I tried shutting down the HANA database, but when I made SQL calls to it, of course the connection was refused.

What do we do? How do we take our database offline without shutting it down, or is there any way that we can perform recovery?

Thank you and looking forward to your reply.

Yours,

Chadin
