Default value for interval type variable

Hi folks,

One of my colleagues posed an interesting question to me today which I have not noticed until now....  How can you put a default value for both the FROM and TO intervals of a variable?  Sure enough I tried and it seems if I set a default value it applies the same default value to both pieces of the interval.  Does anybody have a workaround for this?
