I'm looking into using a star join for a certain reporting scenario. After reading the docs, I'm still not sure if the idea I'm having will work or not.
So here it is:
We have to do UOM conversions on a few measures (the conversions are quite complex with lookups, conditions etc). These converted measures should then be linked to all kinds of data, like prod order, sales order,...
So we are talking about a quite flexible reporting scenario.
Now, for this scenario I want to use a star join (we are on rev94) where the fact would be a scripting calculated view which does the unit conversion (remind that it is quite complex, so easy unit conversion is not an option).
Linked to this fact, I'd create several dimension calculation views et voila.
But:
1. can we use a scripting calculation view as fact?
2. if we can, is that a good idea? Performance?
Or should I abandon the star join idea?
(Oh yeah: we do not have BW on HANA, and that will not be the case for a while)
