Drill down enablement in information views

Hi,

In the properties tab of dimensions in any of the information views has this property 'Drill Down enablement '. Can you please tell me the use of it?

I was in assumption that when we consume this view from excel or any other tool we could see the difference. But even though i set the drill down or not the way it is rendered in excel remains the same.

Can some one give some inputs on this..
