We have a 13 nodes HANA ( 12 active +1 standby ). On one of the node there was a log volume file system full. There was only one log volume residing on that file system which is hdb00007. Due to various issues, the only option during that time available was to move the free log segments. I know its dangerous but cant move the whole log volume which is 512 GB by shutting the DB for 6 hours ( since log backup file system performance was too worst). I did move some log segments to get some free space and restarted the database with log mode normal ( to make sure no corruptions) and gave 'alter system reclaim log' and still it didn't work. So I changed the log mode to overwrite to temporarily fix the issue. Now the only way SAP suggests to clear that free log segments which are not responding to sql or hdbcons commands is to recover the database and reinitialize log area. Recovering the DB causes 10-12 hours of downtime ( 2.4 TB). Please help me if you think there is any other alternative other than recovering. I'm thinking to try shutting down the database move the free log segments and then start the DB in log mode .. ?? Please advise if you guys know any better solution other than recovery.
