How to avoid cursors..in procedures

Hello Experts,

I have a requirement to optimize my SQL procedure..here what we are doing is

Step 1: fetching records from table1 into cursor.

Step 2: Looping those records and performing Delete, update, insert operations depending on (fields in where condition customer, date, age )values returned from table1 on table2table3...etc.

Step 3: Closing the cursor..

In this type of scenario how can I avoid cursors and what should i use in place of cursors..
