After doing the necessary config in SM30 for DBCON table, I tried to run a simple select query on SFLIGHT table and voila, I got a short dump.
The dump says some library is missing. Can you please provide me with all the necessary components and I will ask my BASIS person to install it.

Is there something else which I missed.

I have a question for you.
I am finding hard time to run my Hana studio based on what you can see in the attached screenshot.
I unistalled and reinstalled the Java JRE so many times but "nada" and I am thinking about uninstalling the software itself and install it back again.
My concern about this process is: will all documents or projects that I worked on in the hana system be affected or lost?
Please help.

Hello all, I have a requirement with one customer to do a schema comparison on DEV and TEST environments and get differential script for the tables modified in dev. I have used tools in that past like RedGate to acheive the same from SQL server. Any idea how we can do this schema comparison between two different schemas sitting in two different instances. Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

I have good experience in SQL stored procedure and SAP BPC.
Have the following query
1. Please suggest me where to begin. Are the above five components different from one another?
2. Does one has to specilize in all the five componenet?
3. Is BW knowledge a must and should I take up a course on that as well?
4. What are the various certification in HANA?
5. Reference link for beginners.

As like we do in SAP to create a new user,we have a tab in SU01 to copy existing user roles,same way is there any process in HANA studio where we can copy all the roles assigned to Super user SYSTEM to create a new user which will be a backup user in case of emergency?

Hi HANA experts,
I'm developing a calculation view and need some suggestions about designing and performance optimization.
In my calculation view I need to UNION several Analytical Views that are all joined (with the same join) to a table containing a column that will be added to the Output of the calculation view.
My question is: it is more performant to implement the Calculation View like in figure 1 (The join is made after the union) or like in fig 2 (the same table and join are replicated for each Analytical view, before the union)?
And Why?

I was discussing with my Line Manager while ago and he tols me that it is possible to connect BW to Hana.
I am so confused because Hana has been designed to avoid many interconnections and easy the way to store data and use them.
My question is: how can we again connect BW to Hana since Hana can be used same as BW?
I maybe wrong guys, please help me to have more clarity about this topic.

I created Project using Project Explorer and then subsequently created the Schema (company) and Tables using the .hdbschema and .hdbtable files.
After this i tried to Grant permissions to SYSTEM user directly from the Navigator using the SQL,
GRANT SELECT ON <SCHEMA> TO _SYS_REPO WITH GRANT OPTION;
But the system gave me an error message that the schema "company" doesn't exist.
I also tried adding the schema to users and in this case though i could add "company" schema, but during activation i got the same message that the Schema doesnt exist.
Finally i followed the procedure which was explained in Open SAP i.e. to create Role in Project Explorer using the .hdbrole file and then Grant the permission using the SQL,
call "_SYS_REPO"."GRANT_ACTIVATED_ROLE"('PM3mycompany.myorg.testing.data::workshopAdmin','SYSTEM');
This time it worked perfectly fine.
So in case anyone has created schema and tables in Project Explorer and were able to Grant the authorisations using Grant Select statement in SQL then please do let know.

I have been using a cloudshare trial of HANA to test out our client tool. I am connecting using ODBO.
While some basics work such as [dim].[heir].[level].members and DrillDownMember(), many functions don't seem to work.
My question is, to what extent does HANA support MDX? Is there a list of supported vs. unsupported functionality?
The rest of this is just what I found in a bit of testing. All of these queries work fine against Analysis Services. I am a bit nervous about using MDX against HANA when I found these so easily.
Some examples:
1) Current Member does not appear to work:
Select Non Empty { [Month].[Month].DefaultMember } On Columns,
TopCount ( {[ERDAT].[ERDAT].[ERDAT].Members} , 10 ,
([Measures].[Measures].CurrentMember)
) On Rows From [ORDERS] Where ([Measures].[NETWR]) Cell Properties VALUE
(Also tried with [Measures].CurrentMember in the TopCount)
I have had this happen inside several functions, not just TopCount().
Error:
sql processing error: Error occurred while executing a MDX statement. The error message is: An internal error occurred. Assertion failed with error message Executing hierarchy navigation for [Method: CURRENTMEMBER] failed. Please check the trace files for more details[SAPNewDBMDXProvider.1]
2) TopCount gives incorrect order:
As above, but named the measure in the third argument (Numeric_Expression) to TopCount. I get the top 10 items, but not in order of the measure.
3) Order not allowed

4) Filter gives "strange" results

All the members of [ERDAT] are returned, regardless of value, but the values are null where they were less than 50000 (meet the filter criteria)
5) Generate not allowed
Don't have the query to hand, but I was using the Generate() overload that takes a string expression and delimiter to create a measure that has delimited values over a set in it.
That is the set passed to generate is the months, and the result in each cells is the values for those periods, e.g. "1|2|3|4|5"
Error:

I loaded one flat file to my HANA System and created a table.
Now if i make any changes in my flat file not changing the primary key and try to update the table in HANA, i am getting the error :
error : Unique Constraint Violated
Secondly, while loading flat file i am able to convert data type of all the fields.
But when i convert a data type for my date column from NVARCHAR to DATE, i am getting another error.
1.- Create an CSV file with your data
2.- Copy the file to dropbox/yourname inside the HANA box
3.- Create a table in HANA with the structure of your file
4.- create the control file BBB with the following information:
import data
into table XXX."YYY"
from 'ZZZ.csv'
record delimited by '\n'
fields delimited by ','
optionally enclosed by '"'
error log 'Text_Tables.err'
Where XXX is your schema, YYY is your HANA Table and ZZZ is your file
5.- Open an Script File and write the following:
LOAD FROM '/filer/dropbox/yourname/BBB.ctl';
where BBB is the name of your control file

We are currently bringing out BI solution to SAP HANA, and would love to hear from others their experiences with SAP HANA Offerings.
our development needs are simple. we need to connect our SAP non-productive and BI Platform to one of the SAP HANA offerings. There is a bit of a challenge to perform the folowing connection:
SAP non-productive systems (ERP, GTS, SCM, GRC)-->??SAP HANA??-->BI Platform
If we cannot connect our SAP non-productive systems to HANA, and our BI Platform, there is no use or benefit from engaging in SAP Developer, HANA One, HANA One Premium.
any thoughts? am I missing something here? SAP Startup Focus team has been contacted and currently working with them, but we don't have a straight answer.
It seems that the only option is to buy our own HANA server, then we will have all the pieces needed to do our development.

When I used SLT replication server to connect Oracle database, I got issues.
After configuring Connection (transaction LTR), schema and RS* tables was created on HANA successfully, but DD02L and DD02T didn't contain any records. So I decided to provision table via transaction LTRC, it didn't work. I checked ST22 and found a short dump on method CL_IUUC_DB_RCV_HDB~TYPRED_TYPE_REDEFINITON line 59. details as below:

I'm trying to follow Juergen's guide on how to update an AWS HANA Dev Edition instance to rev56.
However, I'm getting an error in step one, when trying to create the Volume from the snapshot.
I'm in south america region (sa-east-1), zone sa-east-1a.
The snapshot I'm using as template, as suggested in Juergen's guide, is snap-4fab437f (which is shown as 100% available).
The error message is just "An internal error has occurred", and there is no option to try to overcome that.
The error screenshot is shown below.
I'd appreciate any indication on what can be done.
Is there a help forum for AWS?
Also, has anyone been able to create a volume based on the south america's snapshot?
I'm guessing there is a problem with it, since I didn't do anything specific - it errors out in the very first step.

Dear all,
I have a very simply stored procedure, which uses an Att View called AT_RDR.
I tried to use the CE_JOIN_VIEW as follows, which i thought should work, and I understand from the CE function documentation, should work (CE_JOIN_VIEW("join_view_name", ["attrib_name",...])
ssrd = ce_join_view("YMSCHEMA"."poc.model::AT_RDR", ["MATNR"]);
but, after performing a check I get the following error
column store error: [34011] failed to save calculation scenario : The following errors occured: Inconsistent calculation model (34011)
Details (Errors): - CalculationNode ($$SSRD$$): ColumnView MYSCHEMA:poc.model::AT_RDR not found (cannot get catalog object).
Below, if I did it like either of the lines below, they check ok, and work
However, I read it is best to use a View, in case the underlying table changes, so that rules out the second of the two above.
With the first of the two above, I use the explicit _SYS_BIC schema table name, which I have not read anywhere to use this.
So to my eventual question, should I use the explicit reference to the _SYS_BIC schema, or am I doing something wrong.

Hello,
I am creating a simple attribute view using system id. After adding table in data foundation,I selected data preview , then getting " Active Version of the object does not exist " When I go to the schema, select data and I am able to see data in the table.
Searched forum and market place, all suggesting to give grant select on privilege to the user ( in my case SYSTEM) to the schema where the table resides.
Select for schema already exists for System, _SYS_REPO user.
Any help on this .
